Okay, so this might just seem like your run-of-the-mill story about how an air-born rabies virus could cause a Zombie Pandemic, which is totally what it is (AND YOU SHOULD READ IT CAUSE IT’S TERRIFYINGLY AWESOME!). But what was interesting was this passage right here:
“It’s theoretically possible—though extremely difficult—to create a hybrid rabies-influenza virus using modern genetic-engineering techniques, the University of Miami’s [Samita] Andreansky said.
“Sure, I could imagine a scenario where you mix rabies with a flu virus to get airborne transmission, a measles virus to get personality changes, the encephalitis virus to cook your brain with fever”—and thus increase aggression even further—”and throw in the ebola virus to cause you to bleed from your guts. Combine all these things, and you’ll [get] something like a zombie virus,” she said.”
Now, yes, this article is from 2010, but is it just me, or does it seem like maybe too big a coincidence that she is a professor at THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI!?!?! *DUN DUN DUN* (Dramatic and yet totally justified dramatic music.)
I cannot seem to find out if Andreansky is still alive after commenting on this article, or if whatever-shadowy-organization-that-is-creating-the-Zombie-Drug-in-an-attempt-to-cause-the-end-of-the-world shut her up permanently…
